Suffolk Together was formed by ordinary local people who are tired of remote and disjointed local government dominated by national politics. We want more decision making and resources devolved to local communities and welcome your views on a variety of Suffolk topics through this interactive website

re: Support in all four Divisions

I just want to say thankyou to everyone who voted Suffolk Together in Blackbourn Division, to win the trust of 750 people in just 4 weeks is amazing. The good news is that in the future if I am chosen to stand again I will have a lot more time to plan and really frighten our incumbent County Councilor.

On a negative note - I would like to let it be known that both I and one of my most dedicated activists/supporters were both followed whilst conducting our campaign in the villages of the Division by a 50+ year old man in a rather tatty and faded red pick-up truck on several occaisions. I would like to say that I now realise this to be intimidation and who ever this was and who ever he thought he was working on behalf of should I find myself in the same situation again in the near or far future I will take the matter immediately to Suffolk Constabulary.

This one persons actions must not reflect negatively on brilliance of the people living in the community here and the great fun I and my very kind supporters had winning the votes of the good people of Blackbourn Division.

Thanyou Suffolk Together for the opportunity to experience to encourage our local people to take part in the democratic process.

And a very open and up to dare approach of using open blogs to get tee views of ordinary Suffolk people.

John Field is clearly hot and bothered about a real bit of local democracy coming to the fore and catching him out for being a totally and utterly ineffective County councillor. If he had been doing his job, we wouldn’t have the total screw up which is local planning in Gt. Blakenham.

As was recently aimed at the Speaker in the House of Commons, the sentiments of the house in the Norway debate apply here Mr Field!

In other words go now!

re: Lib Dems hot and bothered !

Sir,

I strongly object to John Field’s assertion that Suffolk Together is some sort of elite bunch of local landowners. Suffolk Together is a breath of fresh air in the fetid stink of corrupt party politics – ordinary local people daring to stand up to the old, tired party machines of corrupt national parties.

Michael Blakenham and Steve Wright have done more for local people in the 2 years they have served as Suffolk Together Distract councillors than years of the ineffective bunch of yes-men (and women) who nod through every barmy scheme that either Mid Suffolk or Suffolk County Council come up with. The Lib Dems have been every bit as bad as the Tories and Labour at taking us for a ride and milking the system – why should we listen to distorted and venomous attacks on decent ordinary people trying to make a change for the better.

Suffolk Together – you’ll be getting my vote of Thursday!

re: Lib Dems hot and bothered !

I’d like to pass on a personal message to John Field through your website – John, the leaflet you put out today is not worthy of you or your party. For decades the liberal and latterly the Liberal Democrats have stood for 2 clear things – first yours is a party of thoroughly decent and honest people like David Steel, Menzies Campbell and Vince Cable and second your party is delightfully devoid of either policies or actions. The Liberal Democrats have for years served as the pressure valve of British life in being the party that people vote for when they are fed up with the two main parties – everyone knows that the Lib Dems are harmless because they agree with everyone and never actually do anything.

But through today’s’ personal and cheap attacks on good local people, you have shown yourself only worthy of the second of these attributes. Just where was your voice over the past 8 years as our County Councillor when important local issues like the stupidity of building houses and a school next to a giant incinerator or a leisure complex next to a waste dump and a fuel storage depot. Where – on the fence like the rest of your party saying “well there are two sides to every argument”.

We want people who can show some leadership as our councillors or we will get what we have in recent years – the career bureaucrats like Suffolk’s £220,000 chief executive telling local people what they can have while sheep-like councillors baa in the background. It’s not just MP’s with their nose in the trough!

John, if you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen and make way for someone who can stand up to the bureaucrats. Just don’t demean yourself and your party in the process.

Arnold Green

re: Lib Dems hot and bothered !

Peter,

In response to the Lib Dem literature I received today I would like to pledge my support for Suffolk Together. I will also like to take this opportunity to reassure you that the electorate do not share the same skewed view of the party and it’s candidates that the Lib Dems clearly inexplicably hold. It is blindingly obvious that John Field is trying to deflect attention from his own parties expenses indiscretions, and failure to achieve anything significant at local or national level by attempting to start an outdated and irrelevant debate on class.

Fortunately the electorate are intelligent enough to look beyond “non-issues” and see that Suffolk Together is a party run and supported by people invested personally, financially and emotionally in the betterment of Suffolk as a county who therefore have the understanding and the will to work in it’s best interests.

All John Field has served to illustrate is how much of a threat his and the other “mainstream” parties feel Suffolk Together are.

There is nothing wrong with a member of parliament getting the taxpayer to clean out his moat - Moats are needed to keep the great unwashed away from our Second Homes when we are away in our third homes. This expenses row is complete twaddle.

Don't you know that MP's work jolly hard and need a little comfort or two when they come home from a session at the House of Commons. Some of these sessions can go on for, well hours really and who would begrudge an MP a nice site down in front of a big plasma TV and watch a bit of porn. Bugger cleaning out a moat if someone will do it for you.
