Parliamentary Expenses

Over the last couple of weeks we have learned  that many members of  parliament , Labour, Conservative and Liberal Democratic, have shamelessly  and in some  cases possibly illegally exploited their creaking expenses system.   The time has come to break the grip of the old national political parties and increase the influence of independent local groups that will better serve the communities in which they are based.  We can start at the County Council elections and go on to the General Election and if this a pattern repeated around the country we could end up with a strong new force for the better in the new parliament.                                                            Realistic opportunity or pie in the sky?        Please give us your view.  MichaelB

An independent representative of local people is just what we are looking for! If local public opinion elected local representatives for the district council, what better time than to use the same principle for the County Council. Vote for a change in the way things are done in Suffolk! Vote Suffolk Together!

Very realistic opportunity I think.  I had a very interesting discussion with someone who supports the Green party the other day.  We both felt that we needed to make sure that as many people as possible vote in these elections, otherwise this is a missed opportunity.

Jane I think indeed the Green Party will benefiit from the general disillusionment with the main national parties. They have been very helpful to us on the District Council and I wish them well,  I am sure that the good relationship we have established with them will also work at the County level. MichaelB

Michael - I am 15 years old and have an older sister who is voting for the first time.  What should I say to her to make her vote for Suffolk Together?  I don't think she should vote for the 3 major parties but how can you make a difference if she voted for your party and you got elected?

Ithink you should tell your sister that now is a crunch time for politics in this country.  If the independent parties representing local people don't manage to shake the grip of the old nationalparties then the younger generation of voters will simply turn off.  So we're making a difference hy offering an alternative,  More specifically Suffolk Together candidates understand the Suffolk issues and will ensure that all important decisions are taken after full debate and nothing gets through on the nod or is pushed under the carpet, We will make a difference by pushing the policies we've outlined on the website and by giving local people a voice that would otherwise not be heard.
