Over recent weeks, we've yet again seen Godfrey Spanner's PR machine bleating on about how government bureaucracy is holding up SnOasis. While I'm no fan of government bureaucracy, this time that's complete twaddle. The truth is that the SnOasis proposals were always hopelessly uneconomic and in the current economic climate, projects that don't even begin to make business sense are simply not getting finance - that's the real reason why SnOasis is still just a bunch of brochures and empty promises.
But so many people backed the scheme - Mid Suffolk District Council, Suffolk County Council, Barbara Follett, our esteemed Minister for the East of England, the Evening Star and many others - that nobody wants to have the guts to stand up and say it such barmy scheme that even a GCSE level business student could have seen through it, that's its very convenient to blame bureaucracy.
Well, no matter, it's most unlikely to be built, so why not have a proper debate, involving people who live near the site, on what should be built there - if anything.
